15U Fastpitch Softball

Overview:

League affiliation for 2015 to be determined.

Requires one head coach, one or two assistant coaches and a scorekeeper.

Eligibility:

Birthdates from 1/1/1999 through 12/31/2001.

Players born after 12/31/2001 may request participation which may be allowed subject to approval of Coaches and Commissioner based upon skills assessment.

Schedule:

Team formations in early March and practices begin in mid-March

12-game seasons begin in late April and end in late June

Typically 1 or 2 games per week with additional practice as needed

Playing Time and Positions:

Continuous batting order of all players in attendance

9 players in the field, players will rotate innings on bench if more than 9 are available

Playing time, especially skilled positions (pitcher, catcher, shortstop, etc.) determined by individual player skill, merit, and safety.

All players will play a minimum of 2 innings in defensive positions.

Objectives:

Very competitive, high-level fastpitch game

Begin to develop more advanced player skills in all aspects of fielding, hitting, bunting, base running, and good sportsmanship. Includes slap and drag bunting, pick-offs, delayed steals, double plays, infield and outfield rotations on bunts and steals, etc.

Players enhance skills in multiple infield and outfield positions and work to develop skills necessary to play in high school.

Proper sliding technique and base stealing fundamentals reinforced.

Pitchers and catchers should spend additional time developing their specialized skills.

Equipment and Uniform:

Players must provide fielding gloves. Pitchers must wear facemasks. Facemasks are also advised for other infield positions such as third base, but are not required.

Sliding shorts, batting gloves, knee pad and molded cleats are strongly recommended.

Players are given a team jersey, shorts, socks, and visor.

QVSB provides all other necessary equipment for games and practices including a variety of bats, helmets, and catcher's gear.

15U Competitive Fastpitch Softball

Overview:

The purpose of this team is to introduce players who would like a more challenging level of play the opportunity to compete in a league that better suits their skills and goals.

Will play in the Greater Pittsburgh Girls Softball League.

One head coach, two assistant coaches, and a scorekeeper.

Eligibility:

Birthdates from 1/1/1999 through 12/31/2001.

Players born after 12/31/2001 may request participation which may be allowed subject to approval of Coaches and Commissioner based upon skills assessment.

Schedule:

Team formations in early March and practices begin in mid-April

12 to 16 game seasons begin in mid-May and end in July. There is also a single-elimination playoff in July, played at Graham Park and Cranberry Community Park.

There are no weekend games in this league. All games are played Monday—Thursday to accommodate the large number of girls playing travel ball.
