Eligibility:

Birthdates between 1/1/1996 and 12/31/1999.

All high school players born after 12/31/1999 are also eligible. This includes freshmen who may still be 14 on January 1, 2015. Although 14- and 15-year-old freshmen and sophomores are eligible for 15U fastpitch, it is strongly recommended that they consider playing up to 18U.

Schedule:

Team formations in mid-March and practices begin in late April

12 to 16 game seasons begin in May and end in July. If playing in GPGSL, all games are played Monday—Thursday. There are no weekend games to accommodate the large number of girls playing travel ball.

There is also a single-elimination playoff in July, played at Graham Park and Cranberry Community Park.

Typically 1 or 2 games each week, with additional practice as needed

Playing Time and Positions:

Continuous batting order of all players in attendance, or ASA substitution is allowed

9 players in the field, players will rotate innings on bench if more than 9 are available

Playing time, especially skilled positions (pitcher, catcher, and shortstop) determined by individual player skill, merit, and safety. Safety is crucial in this age bracket, which becomes more and more competitive as players mature.

Objectives:

Very competitive, high-level fastpitch game

Continue refining more advanced player skills in all aspects of fielding, hitting, bunting, base running, and good sportsmanship. Includes slap and drag bunting, pick-offs, delayed steals, double plays, infield and outfield rotations on bunts and steals, etc.

Proper sliding technique and base stealing fundamentals expected.

Pitchers and catchers should spend additional time developing their specialized skills.

Equipment and Uniform:

Metal spikes are recommended in this age bracket but molded cleats are acceptable.

Players must provide fielding gloves, softball socks, cleats, athletic shorts or softball pants, sliding shorts, knee pads, and batting gloves. Sliding shorts/pads and kneepads are highly recommended. Facemasks are required for pitchers. They are optional for all other defensive positions.

QVSB provides all other necessary equipment for games and practices including a variety of bats, helmets, catcher's gear, and face masks for pitchers.

Awards and Recognition:

To be determined based on league affiliation.
